Update 3.3: An improved mobile workspace experience

One of the most important benefits of Workspace 365 is the fact that it allows you to work anywhere, whether it’s in the office, on the road, from home, on location or anywhere else. In some of these situations, it’s easier to not carry a laptop around. In fact, there are even people who access their workspace solely from their mobile phone or tablet. For these people, and of course the people who only occasionally access the workspace from their phone, this update brings many convenient improvements to their mobile workspace experience. Improved adaptability

We want your workspace to be clear and comprehensible, any way you work. So we made the adaptive workspace even more adaptable, by making it automatically adapt to your screen size.

For instance, when you are using the workspace on a small screen, the live tiles will automatically resize based on the size of your screen and will perfectly align with the width of your tile groups. This way, when you’re on your mobile phone, your workspace will still be clear and organised.

This may mean that when you are trying to view a very large live tile on a relatively small screen, the tile will not show you all the information it would on for example your desktop. This makes sure that the information in your live tiles will stay legible at all times, no matter the screen size, meaning you can effortlessly view your upcoming appointments and unread emails, check your upcoming tasks and more.

The same goes for the width of the tile groups. This will also automatically adapt and show more or less tiles beside each other, depending on your screen size. This ensures that your applications are always easily accessible and quickly to find.

A clearer overview of your information

When you’re using a small screen, such as your mobile phone, everything still needs to be readable – cramming the same amount of information on a smaller screen is just chaotic. That is why we’ve adjusted your mobile view of several elements of the workspace, so you won’t have any problems finding and reading information.

We improved this overview for both your Document App and your Business Apps, making it more convenient to create, view and edit documents and data on-the-go. This way, you can quickly grab your phone to find the document you’re looking for when for instance visiting a customer, and you don’t have to grab your laptop when you’re registering you’re mileage when you’re on the road. We’ve also made it easier for admins to manage settings on their mobile phone, by placing the sidebar menu in a dropdown menu, giving you more space for your settings.
Last but not least, we made sure that your Notifications are easier to read, so you can stay updated at any time, making sure that you’ll instantly know when for example an application is made available to you or is not available due to maintenance.

Do more with the header

On your mobile phone, we want to enable you to use all the options and possibilities the header has to offer. So that’s what we did with this update.

Quickly find whatever you’re looking for with the search bar, which is now available in the header, even on smaller screens.
Also, all the menu options in the header are now readily available to you on your mobile. You can view them by expanding the menu whenever you need them. This means that you can rapidly access your contacts in de sidebar, edit your personal settings, view your recently used applications and more. When you’re done, you can simply collapse it again.

Though this update brings some major improvements to the mobile workspace experience, we keep continuing to make it even better, so that you can have the best possible working experience from your mobile phone. Help us do this by giving feedback or submitting new ideas on our feature request page.
