This update, we’re bringing more of your intranet to the workspace with the Announcement live tile and shared spaces. By introducing shared spaces you are able to create multiple tabs within your workspace containing specific applications, information or groups. This allows you to create a better structure and overview within the workspace. Curious what spaces are? Keep on reading! View the Release Announcements to see when this update will be available.
Announcement live tile
You can now add announcements to a live tile. Different types of announcements call for different approaches. Some are important enough to push directly to the user in the form of a pop-up, while others might not be as urgent. If an announcement contains important information, it’s useful if people can re-read the announcement later.
That is why we are introducing the Announcement live tile. This new tile gives you the option whether or not you want to push an announcement to people as a pop-up. Either way, the announcement will appear in the Announcement live tile. From there, people can open and view the most recent 10 announcements. Consequently, people can pick their own moment to read the announcement.
With the Announcements live tile, we bring another piece of social intranet to your adaptive workspace. When you have the permissions to create announcements, you can simply click on the ‘plus’ button in the live tile to write a new announcement. In the future, we’re planning on taking this tile to the next level by, among other things, enabling comments and showing more announcements. Thoughts? Get in touch with us!
Get organised with Shared Spaces
If you are part of or involved in different teams, have a broad variety of tasks or, of course, if you’re an admin, you deal with lots of different types of applications and shared groups. Combining all these groups into one dashboard can potentially be experienced as chaotic and result in people having to search for the right apps or information.
For these people, we proudly introduce the Workspace 365 spaces. The spaces will allow admins to bring more structure to the workspace, for themselves as well as others. Admins can now create spaces for different user groups, in which admins can show or create shared tile groups. The space becomes visible to a user as soon as there is a shared app group in it to which the user has permissions.
When someone gets access to a space, their current dashboard will become their personal workspace and they can switch between spaces. This way, they can keep their personal apps and information separate from apps and information of different teams, departments or those that are meant for certain types of tasks. They also have a consistent experience, which is the same as that of their colleagues.
Examples of Spaces
There are several types if spaces you can create. Naturally, you can create spaces for different teams and departments. However, you can also create several spaces for one team or department, dividing apps and information based on their purpose. For instance, you could create two shared spaces for your marketing team: one with all their applications, and another with all their statistics and information in live tiles. Order for Admins and users
This new feature is especially valuable to admins, who have a dashboard with literally everyone’s groups and applications. They can now create both their own personal dashboards and those of all other teams, groups or departments. For example, they could create different spaces for Marketing, Sales, IT Support, Finance, and so on. This allows them to work significantly more organised and orderly.
Another benefit is that within the shared spaces, the admin can pin tile groups to the top of the space. This means that the admin can determine the exact order of what people will see first. In doing so, they can push important tile groups to be the most prominent part of people’s spaces.
Hiding shared app groups
These spaces give the workspace a high level of adaptability. Whenever you create a shared tile group in a space and give a person permissions, the group will appear on both the personal dashboard and in the space in question. To prevent duplicate shared tile groups in personal and shared spaces, we created the possibility to set a default visibility for shared groups in personal spaces. This allows you to choose if a certain shared group is either visible in both spaces, or in only one of them.
