Update 3.6 is short but sweet, introducing two new features to Workspace 365 on Friday November 15th. First of all, it is now possible to edit published announcements. Secondly, update 3.6 enables you to set a default open preference for everyone in an environment. Curious? Keep on reading!

Edit published announcements

In update 3.5, we introduced the Announcement live tile – to, among other things, improve communication with mobile employees. Forgot to include something in your announcement? Or did you spot that typo just a little too late? No worries! This update, we made it possible for you to edit an announcement after you’ve published it. Consequently, you’ll be able to always optimise your internal communication.

Set open preference for documents

When most people in your organisation have local Office apps installed (or when most of them don’t), you can save each of them the trouble to set ‘local’ as an open preference for their SharePoint, OneDrive and file server files. Because this update enables you to set a default open preference for everyone in the environment, where you can choose between local or online.
Of course, every individual will still be able to set their own personal preference for opening their documents. However, when the personal preference is not set, the default preference will be used.

The reason we’ve created this option for OneDrive and SharePoint as well as the file server, is to offer a consistent experience, no matter what document solutions you use. So if you still (have to) use a file server, you can use it in the adaptive workspace and combined with your modern document solutions anyway – until you’re ready to gradually phase it out. Consequently, you unite your solutions, both new and old, and consistently work with them side by side.
